Knoll Chermayeff Storage Collection: A Florence Knoll continuum by Sam Chermayeff

Florence Knoll brought order and beauty to offices with the credenzas she designed in 1961. Architect Sam Chermayeff has extended her design language into new typologies, proportions, and colors for contemporary life in the workplace as well as home. The Knoll Chermayeff Storage Collection takes an architectural approach to display and storage by pairing bold, visual precision with humanized features that allow for personalization and uniqueness.

"I love this system for being able to withstand a lot of different expressions," says Sam Chermayeff. "It's generous in that way, and even though I took it on a little walk, it's still Florence's thing."

The original steel profiles, flush cabinetry, and marble tops by Florence Knoll form an iconic, instantly recognizable storage system. Chermayeff has extended the original language into new forms, including tall open shelving, a bar cabinet, and coffee, side, and console tables with drawers. in addition to wood veneer, the cases are also offered in deep red, green, and blue lacquer. Polished chrome frames bring focus to the objects displayed, furthering their enjoyment and pride of place in the domestic environment.

By expanding the finish offerings, the updated collection honors Florence Knoll’s architectural rigor while offering clients richer, more expressive choices. The new lacquer tops and cases elevate the classic forms, allowing the credenzas to integrate seamlessly into sophisticated interiors and reaffirm their status as enduring icons of modern design.
